A native of Houston, Pastor David C. Burkley is recognized for his down-to-earth approach and extraordinary gift in biblical exposition and interpretation. A graduate of the University of Houston, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Pastor Burkley’s ministry journey began with a divine calling in 2005 while serving as an usher at Higher Dimension Church in Houston, Texas.
Known for delivering powerful and relevant messages that resonate with today’s generation, Pastor Burkley’s leadership quickly expanded within the church, starting as Youth Pastor at Higher Dimension and growing into roles such as College Ministry Leader, Young Adults Pastor, and ultimately Singles Pastor at one of the nation’s leading mega-churches.
On January 16, 2010, Pastor Burkley shared his vision for a new ministry—The Fellowship of Faith, affectionately known as “The SHIP”. With the motto "Modern Ministry, Classic Church," The SHIP merges contemporary outreach with timeless biblical truths, offering a welcoming space for worship, biblical teaching, and fellowship rooted in love, encouragement, and faith.
Beyond his role in ministry, Pastor Burkley is dedicated to serving his community. He founded the Matthew 25 Project, a monthly initiative that provides meals to unhoused Houstonians, demonstrating his commitment to putting faith into action by serving “the least of these.”
In addition to his work in ministry and community service, Pastor Burkley is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, having practiced for over 12 years. He is also a proud father who enjoys spending time with his family. As a committed member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Pastor Burkley’s life’s mission is to lead others into a deeper relationship with Christ while spreading God’s love throughout the world, building a community of believers anchored in faith, hope, and service.
